About us
Not a hotel. A home.
Isidro and Francisca. El Tanque, northern Tenerife. Five rural cottages restored with their original stones — open because we believe the silence of northern Tenerife is meant to be shared, not industrialised. Four are operational today; the fifth, Casa Ycoden Daute, opens soon.

Where we come from
La Paredita was the family home — our grandparents' grain store at 10 Calle Granero. When we inherited the property in 2019, there were four buildings that had been sleeping for decades: volcanic stone walls, Canarian pine beams, mocheta-tile floors. The easy option was to sell. The one we chose was to restore them one by one, with village craftsmen, without losing a single original wall.
Today they are Abona, Güimar, Taoro and Acentejo — names of the old Guanche kingdoms, because northern Tenerife belonged to the ancients before anyone else. Each one is independent, with its own access and its own light. You share the inner Canarian garden; you don't share walls.
Why we do it this way
Tenerife has a problem: the south is built up, the north is emptying, and the gap between mass tourism and rural life grows every year. Our bet is the opposite — five small cottages, not twenty; direct booking, no 18 % commissions to Booking; guests who want to walk, not coach tours with wristbands.
We're not going to grow. We're staying at these five — four operational, Casa Ycoden Daute in preparation — and dedicating our time to making each stay properly cared for. That's what 70 verified reviews with an average of 9.4 / 10 on Booking tell us is working.
What matters to us
- Slow travel. Minimum stays of 2-3 nights. The north isn't visible in 24 hours; whoever comes for a day misses half of it.
- Local produce. Bread from the village bakery, cheese from Tegueste, wine from Ycoden-Daute-Isora. The welcome fridge has nothing produced outside the Canary Islands.
- Direct booking. If you book at laparedita.com instead of Booking or Airbnb, you save around 15 % and we receive it whole. Same cancellation guarantees.
- Low profile. We don't sell packages, don't send newsletters, don't push offers. The house speaks for itself.
- Details that matter. We have a Sky-Watcher 90/900 EQ2 telescope that we lend to guests for free — because we're inside the UNESCO Starlight Reserve and it would be strange not to use it. More on stargazing →
The village we live in
El Tanque — 760 metres above the sea, 3,000 inhabitants, balcony to Mount Teide. Not a tourist destination; a village that still lives off the orchard, the wine and the fishing in Garachico. 15 minutes to Garachico, 15 to Icod, 50 to Teide, 3 on foot to the first lookout. No night traffic, no light pollution, with the Milky Way visible from the terrace any clear night.
When we stopped living here permanently to open the property to guests, we promised ourselves one thing: that anyone who came would leave with the feeling of having been in a home, not a tourist product. That's what we take care of.
If you want to talk
We're in the village. If you have questions before booking, the WhatsApp number is +34 673 81 82 27 — Francisca or I will answer, not a bot. If you prefer email, [email protected].
