Casa Ycoden Daute
The fifth of our five cottages. Not yet open for holiday rental — we're preparing it for when the moment is right. The other four remain operational. If you want to be among the first to know, leave us your email below.
Where the name comes from
Before Castilians and Portuguese set foot in Tenerife in the 15th century, the island was divided into nine kingdoms — territories ruled by a mencey, the Guanche king. Two of those kingdoms, Ycoden and Daute, covered exactly the northwestern strip where El Tanque sits today: Daute towards Garachico and Buenavista, Ycoden towards Icod de los Vinos.
The name survived the conquest. Today it's the wine appellation of the area — D.O. Ycoden-Daute-Isora — and the county council of the northwest. Calling this house Ycoden Daute is our way of returning the place to its ancient name.
The location
The house is in the same complex as the other four — Abona, Güimar, Taoro and Acentejo — at 10 Calle Granero, in the old centre of El Tanque. It shares the inner Canarian garden, the views of Mount Teide, and the nighttime silence that defines this corner of the north.
We're a short drive from:
- 15 minutes by car to Garachico and the natural pools of El Caletón
- 15 minutes to the Millennial Dragon Tree of Icod de los Vinos
- 50 minutes to the Teide National Park via TF-21
- 3 minutes on foot to Lomo Molino viewpoint and the La Vica trail
Why we haven't opened it yet
We want to do this properly. Casa Ycoden Daute needs its own preparation time, and opening it hastily would be unfair to the guests who trust La Paredita. When it's ready — with its own furniture, its definitive light and its distinct character — we'll open bookings.
Meanwhile, the other four houses are operational with the same ethos: smart locks, self check-in, shared garden, Mount Teide views.

Frequently asked
FAQ
Is Casa Ycoden Daute available to book right now?
Not yet. The house physically exists and is in El Tanque, next to the rest of Casa La Paredita, but we haven't opened it to holiday rental yet. If you want to be notified when we open bookings, write to us at [email protected] or fill the form below.
Why is it called Casa Ycoden Daute?
Ycoden and Daute were two of the nine Guanche kingdoms (menceyatos) that divided Tenerife before the Castilian conquest (15th century). Both covered exactly the northwestern strip of the island where El Tanque is: Daute towards Garachico and Buenavista, Ycoden towards Icod de los Vinos. Today the wine appellation of the area is officially called Ycoden-Daute-Isora.
Is it identical to the other four cottages?
It shares the same surroundings (same Canarian garden, same Mount Teide views, same nighttime silence) but has its own identity — we'll make it public when it's ready. If you're booking now, we recommend any of the four operational houses: Abona, Güimar, Taoro or Acentejo.
When will it open?
We don't have a firm date. We'll notify the waitlist first via email.
