We’re not a conventional wedding venue. No mirror-walled hall, no in-house officiant, no staff photographer, no pre-set menu. But we have something rarer: four operational rural cottages in El Tanque, an inner Canarian garden opening onto Mount Teide, and the ability to close the whole complex for an intimate wedding of the people who actually matter.

This guide is for couples who’d rather have a wedding with 20 people walking barefoot through grass than 200 in a banquet hall.

Why get married here

• Five houses, all yours. Four operational (Abona, Güimar, Taoro, Acentejo) plus Casa Ycoden Daute if you decide to use it for special guests. We close the complex during your stay — no one else.
• Comfortable capacity: up to 14 sleeping + 20-30 seated guests in the garden. For more, partner rural houses 100-300 m away in the same village.
• Mount Teide in the background. Not a metaphor — from the garden you see the volcano to the south. Snow-capped in winter, yellow-lit in spring, clean silhouette at dawn in summer.
• Canarian light. The 5 pm light in May, the 9 pm in August. Every wedding photographer who comes confirms that northern Tenerife has one of the most cinematographic lights in the archipelago — clean, unpolluted, with the “donkey belly” as a natural diffuser in summer.
• Simple logistics. Tenerife North airport 50 min, South 90 min. Three Canarian catering restaurants in the village itself. Florist in Garachico. Town hall 3 minutes away for civil paperwork.

How it works in practice

Phase 1 — Visit

You book a weekend at one of the houses (Casa Güimar usually best for couples — Teide-facing terrace). You come, see the space, walk the village, we talk in person. If you decide to hold the wedding with us, we deduct that stay from the final budget.

Phase 2 — Lock dates

We confirm dates 6-12 months ahead (more for peak month — May, Sep, Oct). 30 % deposit at signing — the rest in two later payments. Cancellation: 100 % refund up to 90 days before, 50 % between 90 and 30 days, non-refundable after.

Phase 3 — Production

We connect you with local providers we work with — all from the El Tanque and Garachico area, no intermediaries:

• Canarian catering: 3 local restaurants with menus from Canarian paella + harbour fish to a 7-course tasting with D.O. Ycoden-Daute- Isora wines.
• Photography: 2 photographers specialised in intimate Canarian weddings, both with local portfolios.
• Florist: the village one. Works with year-round Canarian flowers (wallflowers, daisies, dragon tree in spring; protea and strelitzia all year).
• Music: Canarian acoustic trio (timple + guitar + voice) playing from traditional folk to soft jazz for the cocktail hour.
• Master/mistress of ceremony: secular, spiritual or non-denominational. The ceremony happens in the garden, next to the oldest tree in the complex (a young dragon tree planted by Francisca’s grandmother in 1972).

Phase 4 — The day

You arrive Thursday or Friday. Guests are distributed across the houses by bedrooms. Welcome dinner the first night at a nearby guachinche (no protocol, long table). Main day: ceremony + cocktail + dinner in the garden. Day after: nothing organised — relaxed breakfast, natural pool swim in Garachico, drive to the airport. Recovery.

What we are NOT

• We’re not a wedding planner — we’re the hosts. For hour-by-hour coordination you need an external wedding planner (we recommend a local one we know).
• We don’t have an industrial kitchen — all catering comes from village or valley restaurants.
• We don’t rent crockery, linen or ceremony furniture — that’s brought by the provider you choose.
• We don’t have a covered hall — if it rains (rare in El Tanque, but possible), we set up a marquee or use the covered porch + interiors of the houses.

What we do guarantee

• Real exclusivity: no other guests in the four houses during your stay. Total privacy.
• No price surprises: closed budget at signing, no hidden fees.
• Direct contact with Isidro/Francisca throughout production — not via wedding-planner intermediary.
• Documented rain plan — we know what to do if it rains, we rehearse it for every wedding.

Three weddings we’ve already done here

No names, just the essence:

1. 20 people, September, secular ceremony at sunset. Long table in the garden, Canarian tasting menu, local photographer, timple trio. Result: 0 protocol, 100 % connection. Bride’s quote: “First time in my life that nobody at a wedding looked at their watch.”

2. 12 people, May, silent ceremony at dawn. Intimate family only. Ceremony at 7:30 am with the sun rising over Mount Teide. Then breakfast in pyjamas. One of the most beautiful images we recall.

3. 30 people, October, full weekend. Arrival Thursday, welcome dinner at guachinche La Pasera, Friday ceremony + dinner, Saturday group excursion to Garachico, Sunday brunch and goodbyes. Bride Catalan, groom Dutch, guests from five different countries.
