Güimar, the eastern Guanche kingdom
The Güímar valley on Tenerife's east coast was one of the nine Guanche kingdoms. It was ruled by mencey Añaterve, the first to make peace with the Castilian conquerors in 1495 — known as 'menceyato of the peace faction'. The house inherits that openness: wide rooftop, large windows, no dark corners.
The character of the house
Casa Güimar is a double-height loft with a private rooftop solarium. The open layout plays with the light: the kitchen catches Mount Teide head-on at noon; the rooftop is for sunsets.
Best option for couples with grown-up children or two couples sharing space without crowding. King bed in the sleeping area + double sofa-bed in the living area.
